Incredible Community Picnic

August 12th, 2012 11am – 2pm

Lower lawn of Bonnyman House, 317 Main Street, Tatamagouche, NS



Join us on Sunday, August 12th from 11am-2pm for a picnic fundraiser sponsored by Select Nova Scotia and Bonnyman & Byers in support of the Breakfast Program at Tatamagouche Elementary School and Slow Food Northumberland Shore.


Local producers will serve delicious pork-on-a-bun (or vegetarian option) and garden salad followed by ice cream or wild blueberry shortcake for dessert served by Scotiabank Tatamagouche staff. In addition to great food there will be entertainment and games for the whole family and prizes and a raffle on a picnic table donated by Tatamagouche Home Centre.


Help us reach our goals – to fund the Breakfast Program for two months and to build a community garden in Africa as part of Slow Food’s 1000 Gardens for Africa project. Tickets are limited and cost $15 for adults or $10 for children under 12 and are available from Scotiabank Tatamagouche, C.G. Fulton’s Pharmacy, Bonnyman House Tearoom (902) 657-1916.

Join Slow Food Northumberland Shore to learn about local sheep raising for fiber and meat, hear about cooperative approaches to marketing lamb and enjoy a convivial meal of local goodness.

Archived Events/Activities

July 3rd, 2011 A visit to Holdanca Farm #12628 Hwy.#6, Wallace, Cumberland County. John and Jane Duynisveld specialize in grass-raised and grass-finished pork, beef and poultry.  Tour the farm, learn about the art and science of raising grass-fed livestock and enjoy a convivial lunch prepared by Holdanca Farm and fellow Slow Food members. Meet at the farm 11 AM. Cost is $15 for Slow Food Members and $20 for non-Slow Food members. RSVP – Scott Whitelaw as soon as you can so we know how many people to prepare for!

September 18th, 2011 Harvest Lunch at Waldegrave Farm with Chefs Chris Aerni of Rossmount Inn, St. Andrews, N.B. and Slow Food Chef Craig Flinn  of Chives Canadian Bistro and Sean Gallagher of The Local Source.  Slow Food Northumberland Shore member Cammie Harbottle runs the vegetable gardens at Waldegrave and she will tour us around the farm.  We’re also planning to offer a special program for children at this event.  Exact timing and costs are still in the works.
